Graphic Organizers:
Five Advantages of Graphic Organizers:
- Graphic organizers present different and in times for the person viewing it, a different way to learn, organize, and set up their informtion and concepts.
- Instead of just using words in paragraph format, graphic organizers are just that: graphics which help visual learners.
- Graphic organizers take much less time to set up ideas and facts rather than just reports with long pages and amounts of text.
- They can be used for any subject and almost any situation.
- Students like using them.
Five different Types of GO's and how they can be used:
- KWL Charts: What we know, want to know, and what we have learned based on it. For my classes it could be used to learn about events or situations.
- Idea Rake: Like a spider web, this sheet is able to produce a main idea that spawns more ideas and then ideas from that. How did an event happen, what spawned it and the events that prempted its happening.
- KWS Chart: What we know, want to know, and what sources that are applied to it. Like the KWL chart this one is more used for the sources that can be gotten to describe these.
- Venn-Diagram: A venn diagram is able to do have two sides to a story or an event and find out what connects them with the center circle. This also can be used to make more concepts that are harder to come by more understandable since they can be realted to different sides of an argument.
- Goal-Reasons Chart: Like the idea rake, this chart is slightly more organized to set up a concept and then have the reasons for that goal to be accomplished.
